New Tune Out Soon

Well, my trials with Mirlo.space continue. Five attempts to upload my new tune, full name “More Nervous Energy-250819-001” to Mirlo.space with attempts either terminated after 1/2 hour to an hour, or a relatively immediate abort with no file name given. The excuse is that the developers never thought anyone would use anything but a desktop to upload. This in the day-and-age when phones and tablets are almost as powerful as a desktop. The only excuse is that the developers still regard the software to be beta, though it seems more like late alpha software.

I hope to upload the tune to Bandcamp (https://jaypeach.bandcamp.com) tonight, and possibly upload to https://Mirlo.space from either my laptop, if it feels like working, or maybe my raspberry pi.

Promotion

I decided to give a promotion company some business when I had a better month than usual with a decent distribution from Distrokid. I chose Apolone for a one month campaign for one of my songs

I decided to give the one month campaign a try although I never used Apolone before. This is the result of an almost completed campaign.

With this as additional support, of just the featured song:

So, 2,840 listeners in 28 days for a really bizarre sub-genre. Is that good? It’s better than I expected. At least I didn’t have to go through the bother of trying to hunt down playlists and then pitch my song to them. And now I have and idea of which playlists to pitch to in the future.

More on Music

More on Music; been fooling around with the Nervous Keys preset on my Arturia Microfreak lately. I kinda like the sounds it makes and I’m trying to find a drone sound to use with it. The gear that I’m experimenting with includes the Moog Mother-32 and the Moog Mavis. We’ll see how things go.

The new music that I’m working on I’m planning to upload to platforms I haven’t used before, Mirlo and bandwagon.fm. They’re platforms built to enable artists to keep more of the money generated from customer purchases. And as an extra benefit, no AI training from your music. The plan is to emulate SoundCloud and Bandcamp.

More on Spotify

Well, make me a liar. Spotify users numbers have gone up almost 200% over the past couple of weeks. I dunno whether they’re promoting emerging artists, or what the deal is. I still have nowhere the numbers that I had back in 2021, 2022 and 2023, when I had an average of more than 250 monthly listeners, but any increase is helpful.

Maybe I should try making more EDM type music. What do you think? More EDM or more of the same? Answers in comments, since WordPress doesn’t seem to support polls.

More Music?

I’m feeling the urge to make music tonight. Maybe using the Moog Sub 37 again. I was playing with it 2 nights ago and made one recording. Tonight might be another time to delve deeper to do some sound design.

I also need to apply myself to reexamine the other work I’ve created over the past few months to release or to abandon.

Well Between a Stomache Bug and Music Making…

I’ve been too busy to make any blog entries. For about 7-10 days, I got out a number of synthesizers and spent hours fiddling around with them. I got especially good results from a few of them, and made some recordings.

Then disaster struck. I seem to have come down with either a stomache bug or food poisoning. I still haven’t fully recovered and still feel a little woozy. So as soon as I feel up to it, it’ll be time to review the recordings I made to see if they’re releasable material.
