Well, I just dropped two new songs, Symbiosis and Brazil Deep Phonk. They’re already available on SoundCloud, and due to drop on most major streaming platforms on June 12. Yeah, that’s aways away, but platforms like Spotify require lead times of up to a month so that their curators have time to check your work out and prepare your songs for Release Radar and similar offerings. Not that the pay to play platform Spotify makes any effort to promote your music unless you pay for the privilege. Anyways check out my linktree at linktr.ee/jaypeach53 for distrokid’s presave pages. Every click you make to presave the song helps me immeasurably, so thank you.

Hostinger Woes As A Web Host
As you can see, Hostinger’s performance is less than stellar. One could hope that it shouldn’t take 5 seconds to display a web page, though as least the page is relatively bug-free after the paint.
Hostinger woes continue, as trying to use the web interface on an iPhone is still a pain, with scrolling down to fill a post is impossible. This action is even worse than it was a few weeks ago. Scrolling used to be hit or miss, but now it’s totally broken.

Is it Me Or Is It Roland?
I just find, that even though I like my Roland gear, that the workflow is non-intuitive and functions that you want to use are buried in multiple keypresses that just make NO SENSE. I’m constantly having to refer the the manuals to get, in my regard, functions that shouldn’t be buried. Admittedly, the two devices the S-1 and the SP 404 Mk 2, have a smaller footprint than other devices I have, but usability doesn’t seem to be Roland’s forte.
Just one example of this is the preset save feature on the S-1. The save feature, on key 16, called “write”, takes a shift -write and then you have to press the 2 key, enter, whereas on most devices the save feature would be located near the play and record buttons instead of being spread all over the device.
Music Takedowns
I don’t have a problem with music takedowns. During the four years that I’ve been releasing music, I’ve only gotten 3-4 takedown notices from all distributors, as opposed to the 81 songs I’ve released. Most of them have been from SoundCloud, and they have a lousy algoritm for detecting copyright violations. But one thing that saves them is they do have a resolution mechanism for disputing copyright claims. Apple, on the other hand, has no dispute mechanism. This meanswith Apple, there’s no way to dispute their findings, and if Apple’s algoritm is as bad as that that discovery tool they’ve got, then they get a lot of false positives.
New Music?
Got a rig together last night that included the Roland S-1 and Roland SP404. Recorded some ideas with the Zoom H8 recorder. I still can’t figure out how to save the settings on the S-1 so if I get a musical idea, I have to record it otherwise it’s gone. The S-1 manual doesn’t seem to be of much help. Maybe I should check out Youtube to see if there are tutorials on the S-1.
100 degrees
Well, we had our first 100 degree day of 2024 here in Las Vegas. 101 to be exact. To me it didn’t feel that hot as the humidity was low. I guess summer is coming. Gonna try another season without air conditioning. Once I get used to the heat, going outside where the temperature is high is less oppressive than the temperature differential when using air. I’ll continue to run my humidifiers as the plants and stringd instruments dry out too much.
Misfits Market
Found a new place to buy organic and other less processed foods, Misfits Market. They also have fruits and veggies that won’t be sold in grocery stores because they’re blemished or off sized. But the prices seem to reflect that and if you’re looking for a larger assortment of organic stuff than the usual big box store, check them out. Click on the link and get $10 off your order. https://www.misfitsmarket.com/?promo=COOKWME-TP4EHAGGAVC
Meta, Another TikTok?
Maybe Meta should get the TikTok treatment, given that Zuckberg conspired with the Russians in the Cambridge Analytics fiasco. Right wing traitors should be forced to divest, if American “security” is so important. Its well-known that Meta boosts right wing propaganda and suppresses news from other sources. They also allow hate speech from the right unimpeded.
Meta is a right leaning social platform, just like Twitttr and Fox faux “News” and Truth Social . In fact its hard to find a platform that’s not right wing. Oligarchs want it that way so that they can control the narrative. That’s why its important thet TikTok doesn’t get banned.
“Security” objections? Google, Microsoft, and Meta all perform all sorts of data mining on their users in order to sell that usage info to the highest bidder. Users have no choice in the matter. That’s why there’s so much identity theft.
Meta Ad Performance
Meta ad performance is going in the toilet. Now when you try to set up an ad campaign on Instagram, they don’t let you choose an audience, they choose your audience for you. I wanted to choose people in the US, Europe and South America that lusten to electronic music. It led me to believe that I could do that targeting, then at the end of the selection process, the ad status said that they would choose the audience from my followers only in the US. Despite trying to change these settings, the IG app refused to change the parameters. So basically I wasted $66 to get 84 clicks. Sorry Meta, screwing your advertisers is not a good idea.
And besides which, the traffice generated is less engaged than other sources. The direct traffic only comprised 8% of traffic, but the engagement rate was 42%. Meta traffic engagement was somewhat less than that.
