Weather and Painting

Now that the weather’s getting better I have been spending more time outside painting. I’ve mostly been working on painting backgrounds and such on a number of paintings, I have 4 paintings in various stages of completion. They’re all pretty much in a new style I’ve been trying out, so I’ll have to see if anything I’ve started will be saleable.

Here’s a picture of the canvases laid out:

Most canvases are approximately 12 by 16 inches, with the black one being approximately 16 by 20 inches. Yeah, they are metric.

(As an aside, WordPress encourages users to use Jetpack to construct post, and overall interact with the platform. And Jetpack has many “features” that are quite obnoxious. Word completion and spell checking are two that I find to be especially obnoxious. And obvious features that would enhance the user experience are dribbled out rarely. They just got around to enhancing the statistics so that creators can more easily judge what posts are hitting and which are not. The improved stats also go into more detail, showing monthly and daily hits on the site, though what’s still lacking is post level stats.)

  1. It’s great to hear that you’re taking advantage of the better weather to focus on your paintings! I’m curious about the new style you’re experimenting with—can you share more about what inspired this shift? The variety in canvas sizes seems interesting; do you find that the dimensions influence the mood or theme of your work? As for the saleability of your art, have you considered gathering feedback from others before deciding? Regarding WordPress and Jetpack, it’s frustrating when platforms prioritize features that aren’t user-friendly. Do you think creators should have more direct input on updates? Finally, the improved stats are a step forward, but do you believe they’ll genuinely help in refining your content strategy?

    1. First of all, most of my replies are in the negative. I find most interactions with clients or customers takes place in person. I will usually point people at the website to get to know me better thru my web posts. I haven’t found a good way to sell thru the store, so there’s no artwork or music posted there.
As for input into updates, creatives aren’t really on WP’s radar, you can tell that they regard influencers and their rube customers are a bigger part WP’s direction. And no, influencers aren’t not creators, they’re just trend jockeys, playing to the masses and their petty concerns. And obviously not a part of my possible client base.
As for the improved stats, the stats WP offers aren’t really that good, not fine grained enough to be relevant to making decisions.
